STEP 1

Determine the right certification for you

The NIAAA offers six certifications for athletic administrators at various stages in their career:

U.S. Certifications

• Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA)
• Registered Middle School Athletic Administrator (RMSAA)
• Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA)
• Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA)

International Certifications

• Registered International Athletic Administrator (RIAA)
• Certified International Athletic Administrator (CIAA)

Purchase your certification application

STEP 4

Download materials

Once your payment is processed, you will receive an email regarding the materials you need for your certification, including the Personal Data Form (PDF).

If you do not receive an email within 24 hours, contact us.

STEP 5

Submit all required documents

See the last page of the Personal Data Form (PDF) for specific instructions on how to submit your documents, including your completed PDF, proof of your degree and your NIAAA transcript.

STEP 6

Wait for next steps

Once your required documents are submitted, you will receive a confirmation email that they are being processed.

• RAA, RMSAA and RIAA: Applicants will be notified of approval within 10 business days of submission.
• CAA, CMAA and CIAA: Applications will be sent to our Certification Committee for review. We will keep you informed and will reach out if any further information is needed.

STEP 7

Receive certificate

Once your application is approved and all required steps are completed, you will receive your certificate in the mail. Please allow up to 10 business days to receive the certificate.
